Joy at the Table was born from my deepest passion: Moments that we share across the table from one another. Breaking bread with others builds and fosters some of the most significant relationships in our lives. The moments we share and relationships we have are very special to me; we’re not just eating. We’re connecting.
I’ve been blessed by a wealth of travel and cultural experiences that have been foundational and inspirational to my culinary perspective. I was born deep in the jungle of Indonesia to two compassionate and loving people. My parents devoted their lives to helping the world’s most vulnerable.
As a young girl in an Indonesian village that can’t be found on a map, I was first exposed to culinary adventures. My mother was a true artisan and found a way to create amazing meals for my family and other villagers without any of the luxuries that we all find in our own kitchens today.
It was here that I discovered the relationships that were fostered through sharing meals. The villagers and other families would all share stories and laugh during each meal. I can still see the smiles on their faces as they enjoyed one another’s company. The memories that I carry with me from these times are some of my fondest.
My journeys as an adolescent, and into adulthood took me from California to Sweden, Portland, Guatemala, Cypress, Italy, Germany, and France. The highlight of my travel experiences has been to discover new blends of flavors and ways to experience food.
While living and traveling around the world has certainly influenced my technique for creating food, my experience with people has also developed my desire to bring more than just food to the table. In each country, at each table that I’ve either served at or sat at my experience has been the same. Moments were being shared and memories were being made.
My hope is that everyone experiences true Joy at the Table. My mission is to bring fantastic relationships, moments, connections, and memories to YOUR table.
